Climate Management

Decarbonization Strategy

The Group has been a supporter of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) since 2023 and has pledged alignment with Hong Kong’s 2050 and the country’s 2060 carbon neutrality targets. It has also joined the Carbon Neutrality Partnership to support the HKSAR Climate Action Plan 2050 and is strengthening climate disclosure in line with TCFD and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board. Management of Risk and Opportunity

The Group utilizes scenario analysis and prioritizes material climate risks and opportunities across its value chain. This assessment evaluates both financial and non-financial impacts, enabling the formulation of structured, data-driven responses to climate challenges. For more details, please visit here.

Adaptation and Resilience Measures

The Group mitigates and adapts physical climate risks by integrating resilience into both design and operations. New developments feature typhoon-resistant designs and undergo site-specific risk assessments. For its managed properties, SHKP installs floodgates, flood sensors, water baffles, typhoon nets and submersible pumps in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Regular training and emergency drills are conducted for staff and tenants.

Renewable Energy Development

The Group has established one of Hong Kong’s largest solar energy networks by widely deploying solar systems across its managed properties and construction sites. For more details, please visit here

Through a joint venture, the Group developed Hong Kong’s first privately funded landfill solar farm at the South East New Territories Landfill. Comprising over 1,800 solar panels, the project generates approximately 1.2 million kWh of electricity annually and aims to reduce carbon emissions by around 468 tonnes per year. SUNeVision, the Group’s data centre subsidiary, purchases CLP Renewable Energy Certificates linked 100% to the solar farm’s output.

1 According to the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the average electricity consumption per household per month in Hong Kong is about 275 units.
