Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) maintains high standards of corporate governance and proactive investor relations, and these efforts are widely recognized by the investment sector.  The company recently won the Asia’s Icon on Corporate Governance which is the highest accolade of the Corporate Governance Asia’s Recognition Awards 2013.

SHKP Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer Patrick K W Chan also won an Asian Corporate Director Recognition Award.  He said: “We believe that conducting business in an open and responsible manner and adhering to good corporate governance practices can enhance long-term returns for the Group and shareholders.  We have a seasoned management team working under an effective board of directors with a good internal control system, and we work to strengthen stakeholder interaction.  We will continue our efforts to maintain timely and effective communication with shareholders, investors and other parties and practice sustainable business.”

The Corporate Governance Asia Annual Recognition Awards are given to companies in the region based on the quality of management, business model, growth prospects, financial performance and relative position in the industry.  The magazine tallied up the companies that consistently made the honour rolls in the annual awards over the past ten years and this year gave them the highest accolade by naming them icons of corporate governance.
